Lois McFadyen Christensen is an associate professor in the Department of Curriculum and Instruction at the University of Alabama at Birmingham. She is an elementary social studies specialist at the undergraduate and graduate levels. For the past six years, Dr. Christensen has facilitated a collaborative, cross-disciplined approach focused on the Birmingham Civil Rights Movement Course. Dr. Christensen’s publications and presentations pertain to social studies research, critical theory, and the Reggio Emilia approach to early childhood education.
